Major update to INMETRO certification for LED bulbs and tubes in Brazil

The Brazilian INMETRO has published the draft amendment to the regulation INMETRO 144/2015 on integrated LED lamps by Ordinance No. 86 and is calling for suggestions and comments from the public on this amendment (the call period is 15 days), which will be published in the next few months.
The specific updates to Regulation INMETRO 144/2015 include
1. the use of prototype samples (handpieces) for the INMETRO certification of LED luminaires is not allowed.
2. it is not allowed to collect samples for testing in advance before the certification process starts.
3. for the same model specifications of LED bulbs, only the importer is different, must have independent sampling, independent testing, independent reports, do not allow the use of the same test data and test reports for different certification (series division can refer to INMETRO144/2015).
4. For LED bulbs that are undergoing INMETRO certification but have not yet received a COC certificate, they must comply with the amended decree within 8 months from the date of publication of the decree, which is the date of publication of the decree.
5. the other elements of Regulation INMETRO 144/2015 remain unchanged.
6. the Decree shall take effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Union.
