Brilliant launches single-piece AR glasses with Micro OLED screen

February 8 - Open source eyewear solution provider Brilliant Labs has launched a monocular AR eyewear solution: the Monocle. it is reported that the Monocole looks like thicker, round monocles that clip onto the user's own glasses to bring AR display capabilities. Priced at $349, manufacturing of the product has been completed and the first shipment will be sent out soon.


The Monocle is understood to be a one-piece optomechanical package with a 20° FOV lens, Micro OLED light source (640x400 resolution), capacitive haptic sensor, 720p camera, FPGA, Bluetooth 5.2 module, Nordic MCU, and 70mAh battery. It can be connected to a mobile phone via Bluetooth (with a companion app for both iOS and Android) and lasts up to 2 hours. This AR glasses solution is designed for developers with uses including: custom AR apps and games, machine vision, wearable remote sensing, machine learning and more.
It is worth noting that in the future Brillant Labs plans to develop framed AR shades that can be used directly by people who do not wear bright glasses. In addition, the first batch of versions out to give the Hirata induced light design solution, and the subsequent ten plans use a frosted finish to conceal the electronic components.
